A Perfect Handbag

Now I know that your husband you think you own too many handbags, however once in a while a bag comes along that is so perfect you just have to own it.  These bags from Samoa Style are some of the most wonderful I have found.  They measure approximately 10" x 10" x 4" deep.  The zippered pocket on the front holds your cell phone so you don't have to dig it out of the bottom of your bag.  Inside is another zippered pocket and three open pockets.  However the best part is that by just flipping the edge of the handle it converts from a handbag to a shoulder bag and back again.  They are available in a wide range of colors and two other styles.  Stop by the store or e-mail me and I will send you pics and prices.

The Garden

When I think about what I really miss about the Pacific Northwest my garden has to be right up at the top.  As much as I try, I cannot seem to get those beautiful Northwest flowers blooming for long in the desert.  The garden which occupied my time all summer long is now pushed to winter when the temperature is cooler.  The trade off is that I get to enjoy the abundance of beautiful fruits and vegetables available when the rest of the country is looking at snow.  There is nothing better than your own garden, pesticide free, amazingly fresh, and even a bit funky.  "Real" grapefruit aren't all uniform in shape and size, however the flavor is like nothing the corner grocery has to offer.  Picked at the peak of ripeness instead of green and flavorless makes all the difference in the world.

Welcome

It is amazing to think about the way in which we interact with each other and how much it has changed over the last century.  One hundred years ago, my great grandmother was finally able to get in touch with her friends and family with this amazing wooden box.  She lived in rural Oregon and although most of the family did also, she could finally speak to them without having to leave her house.  She had a phone long before she ever had indoor plumbing.  Today we take all of this for granted.  I can get in touch with all of you simply by pushing the buttons on my phone.  The phone takes the pictures and uploads them where I want them to go.  Words no longer need to be transmitted over a wire, they seem to magically appear on our screen.  And best of all I am able to keep in touch with all of you, sharing the simple things in life that my great grandmother took for granted and which we all wish we could have a little piece of once again.
